During gameplay, the screen suddenly shows just colourful static though the unit icons and UI are still visible.

This problem seems to be specific for NVIDIA graphics cards. As of yet, this is an unresolved issue, but fortunately it is rare. There is a possibility that turning off HDR in the PA graphics settings can stop it from occuring.
