The criteria for main menu promotion of community tournaments are:

  • semi professional events ie be organised
  • great viewer experience
  • publicly announced on Uber forums with cross posting to steam (titans and classic), reddit, etc and updated with any changes
    • main menu will link to Uber forums post until 15 mins prior to event then switch to live stream
  • uber forum and community chat rules apply ie absolutely no abusive or hate speech especially by casters and during interviews

Recommendations

The pre-start and start are when you'll gain (or lose) the most viewers. You'll lose people new to PA if not organised.

Caster

  • organise a caster and backup caster as early as possible (no caster = nothing to watch = no main menu)
  • video / audio check 1 hour prior or days early for new casters
    • low or mismatched audio levels and poor stream quality are not a great viewer experience
    • disable ubermap as it will kill performance and cause crashes
    • use PIPs only if your system and stream can support
  • countdown timer 30 minutes prior
  • PA soundtrack is available for pre start countdown and any intermissions
  • try to avoid dead air
  • provide content for people new to PA
  • download video immediately after event so you have a backup

Posts

  • clearly show start date and time in UTC
  • link to tournament rules including community behaviour similar to https://exodusesports.com/general-rules/
  • reminder bump forums and steam posts eg 24 hours prior, 1 hour prior, etc
  • update original post with results and next game
  • bump posts with results, game summary / commentary and next game

Chat

  • moderators
  • links for people new to PA
